Finally, it’s the opening Friday night of the high school football playoffs across the 4States region.

Several 4States teams will be in action on this Friday, and unlike last week, the weather shouldn’t be a factor in any state.

4States SportsScene managing editor Buck Ringgold (@Bucks_Ballpark) will be following several games and will provide live updates throughout the night.

– Longview committed seven turnovers, but the Lobos were able to hold off Naaman Forest, 23-13. It was 16-13 into the fourth quarter before Longview got a TD with more than seven minutes left to seal things.

Pine Tree hangs on to defeat Bridge Creek, 35-28.

Van Buren pulled off a 29-26 win at Marion in the first round of the Arkansas 6A playoffs, scoring on a TD pass in the final moments. The Pointers will advance next week to take on Shiloh Christian in the 6A quarterfinals.

Pine Tree breaks a 28-all tie and takes a 35-28 lead on Bridge City with less than eight minutes remaining.

– Grove goes for two, but Sallisaw stops the Ridgerunners just shy of the goal line. Black Diamonds hang on for a 27-26 win in overtime.

– Grove’s quarterback barely crosses the goal line. Sallisaw up one pending the PAT.

– Grove stopped two yards shy of the goal line, setting up fourth down. One more stop from Sallisaw and this one is over.

– Grove faces third down from the 9-yard line.

Sallisaw leads Grove, 27-20, as Kenyan Hill scores from 2 yards out. Grove now has the ball in its overtime series.

– Sallisaw will be on offense first to start the overtime period. The Black Diamonds are playing their third overtime game this season, and they are 2-0 in overtime thus far.

Sallisaw and Grove are heading to overtime, tied at 20-20.

Sallisaw ties the score at 20-20 as Brian Castor boots a 39-yard field goal with 51 seconds left in regulation.

– Sallisaw faces a fourth-and-5 from the Grove 22 inside the final minute of play. Black Diamonds call their final time out.

– Sallisaw now near the Grove 25 with less than two minutes left.

– Sallisaw forces Grove to punt, and the Black Diamonds have excellent field position at the Grove 37 with less than three minutes remaining.

– Grove’s defense holds, forces Sallisaw to punt. Grove hanging on to a 20-17 lead with 3:36 left.

– Sallisaw now just past midfield with under five minutes to go.

Grove just took the lead against Sallisaw, 20-17, on a TD pass with 5:31 left. The PAT was blocked.

Vian posts a 38-7 win against Kansas in the first round of the Class 2A-II playoffs. Wolverines will take on Beggs in the second round next week in Vian.

– Idabel QB Anthony Clay has thrown four TD passes, the latest a 60-yarder to Matrail Lopez as the Warriors now lead Sequoyah-Claremore, 39-14, with more than six minutes left. Lopez also has seven catches for 138 yards.

– Marshall breaks the halftime tie and now up 28-14 on Montgomery in the fourth quarter on a 77-yard TD reception by Raijon Sims.

– Vian recovers a fumble deep in Kansas territory and cashes in on that as Masyn Wright takes it in from 2 yards out. Wolverines up 38-7 with 4:30 remaining.

Sallisaw regains the lead on Grove, 17-14, on a field goal late in the third quarter.

Vian leads 31-7 in the fourth quarter on a 34-yard field goal from Mikayah Mendoza.

– Down 14-0 at halftime, Grove has stormed back in the third quarter and has now tied Sallisaw at 14-all.

– Kansas finally gets on the scoreboard on a TD with six seconds left in the third quarter. But Vian still leads handily, 28-7.

– Grove scores a touchdown early in the second half and cuts Sallisaw’s lead to seven, 14-7.

– Charleston QB Carter Little has thrown two more TD passes, a 30-yarder to Emiliano Gaona and a 2-yarder to Ayden Kilpatrick, and the Tigers have broken this thing wide open against Melbourne, leading 49-14 in the third.

– Vian received the second-half kickoff but fumbled it to Kansas. Comets then faced a fourth down near the Vian 30, but the Wolverines’ Tristan Wiley intercepts a screen pass. One play later, Masyn Wright takes a handoff and darts 59 yards for a TD. Wolverines now up 28-0.

Beckville builds a 35-15 lead on Rivercrest late in the first half on a 64-yard TD reception from Aiden Harris.

– Marshall gives up the lead to Montgomery on a blocked punt return for a TD. Mavericks are tied at 14-all late in the first half.

Elysian Fields hanging in with Honey Grove, trailing 21-14 late in the first half after a 51-yard TD pass from Brody Parker to Brandon Kennedy.

Pocola now up 30-0 on Tonkawa at halftime. Indians scored again in the final seconds of the half as AJ Lyons-Jerrell takes a pass 42 yards to the house.

Idabel builds a 20-7 lead on Sequoyah-Claremore on a 41-yard TD pass from Anthony Clay to Cordavious Hawkins. That is now the halftime score.

Sallisaw goes into halftime with a 14-0 lead on Grove.

Vian leads Kansas at halftime, 21-0.

– Vian turns the ball over on downs inside the Kansas 35 with less than two minutes left until halftime. Wolverines still in control, leading 21-0.

Pocola now up 22-0 on Tonkawa late in the first half as Ja Posey takes in a keeper from 2 yards out.

West Monroe takes a 21-0 lead on Parkway in Bossier City.

Booneville led Magnet Cove, 28-0, after one quarter as the Bearcats rolled up 263 yards of total offense. The Bearcats build the lead to 41-0 now.

Charleston now up 28-7 on Melbourne after back-to-back TD passes from Carter Little, an 11-yarder to Deegan Todd and a 23-yarder to Ayden Kilpatrick.

– Vian was on the move again after a long punt return from Masyn Wright, but a Wolverine pass gets intercepted.

Marshall up 14-0 on Montgomery in the second quarter.

Longview up 14-0 on Naaman Forest less than five minutes in. Lobos scored their first TD just 17 seconds in on a 2-yard Kelvin Washington TD set up by a fumble return; then QB Maverick Rowe finds Bryant Williams from 9 yards out.

Beckville takes a 7-0 lead on Rivercrest late in the first quarter down in Texas, as Jorden Prince takes it in from 38 yards out.

Vian now up 21-0 with 8:55 left in the first half. On a fourth-and-long from the Kansas 35, quarterback Cash Trammel finds Trace Sanders, who breaks a tackle and takes it into the end zone.

Charleston breaks a tie and now leads Melbourne, 14-7, in the second quarter on a 24-yard TD from Garred Smithson.

Pocola takes a 14-0 lead on Tonkawa late in the first quarter. Touchdowns were a run from AJ Lyons-Jerrell, and a reception from Brayden Hardwick. Dakotah Terrell also caught a two-point pass.

Sallisaw now up 14-0 on Grove as Kase Adams launches a 28-yard TD strike to a wide open Cooper Cox with 42 seconds left in the first quarter.

– End of one quarter, Vian leads Kansas, 14-0.

Sallisaw takes a 7-0 lead on Grove with more than two minutes left in the first quarter as Jackson Harris sneaks it in from a yard out.

– And just like that, Vian now is up 14-0. One play after Trace Sanders picks off a pass inside the Kansas 40, he returns it to the 17, Masyn Wright takes the snap and runs in a keeper for the TD with 1:15 left in the first quarter.

Vian takes a 7-0 lead with 2:26 left in the first quarter as Jacob Brannick returns an interception 56 yards to the house.

– Sallisaw driving on Grove, as the Black Diamonds have the ball in the red zone.

Idabel takes a 7-0 lead on Sequoyah-Claremore midway through the first quarter as Ravian Larry returns a fumble 95 yards to the house.

– Vian forced to punt on its opening series, and Masyn Wright booms a kick that lands near the Kansas 20. Scoreless in the first.

– Ozark’s Eli Gilstrap took the opening kickoff 95 yards for a TD, giving the Hillbillies a 6-0 lead in their playoff at Arkadelphia, but the Badgers answer back with a TD of their own and now lead Ozark, 7-6.

– Kansas gets a couple of first downs on the opening drive, but will punt it away to Vian.

Charleston takes a 7-0 lead on Melbourne three plays in, as QB Carter Little hooks up with Emiliano Gaona for a 35-yard TD pass.

– Kansas having a successful drive so far to start, already converting on third down and moving the chains.

– Vian will kick off to Kansas to start its Class 2A-II opening-round playoff contest.

– Getting ready to settle in and follow a bunch of opening-round playoff games from across the four state region of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
