Several teams in the 4States coverage area are going to end its respective regular seasons a day sooner than normal.

Some teams have already scheduled games on Thursday night, while others are playing on that date instead, moving its games up a day early due to the prospect of inclement weather on Friday.

Carthage goes on to down Brownsboro, 57-8. The Bulldogs finish the regular season 9-1 and ran the table in District 4A-8 Division II en route to the title, the eighth straight season Carthage finished district play undefeated.

– Big win for Airline tonight as the Vikings hold off Huntington, 59-54. With the win, the Vikings claim the outright District 1-5A title for the second time in the last three seasons and also finish the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.

– Fouke recovers the onside kick and the Panthers will escape past Smackover, 55-53. The Panthers rallied from a 47-32 fourth-quarter deficit.

– Fouke intercepts the two-point attempt. Panthers hanging on to a 55-53 lead as Smackover will attempt the onside kick.

– On third-and-goal, Smackover’s QB takes a keeper into the end zone. Fouke still up, 55-53, with the two-point conversion coming with 18 seconds left.

– Smackover already inside the Fouke 10, seeking to extend this game. Panthers up, 55-47, late in regulation.

– A wild game going on in Smackover, Arkansas. Fouke just took the lead, 55-47, with 1:45 remaining.

Mineral Springs uses big scoring barrages in the second and fourth quarters to post a 52-36 win on the road at Murfreesboro.

– Captain Shreve tailback Jamarcea Plater rushed for 141 yards and a pair of TDs in the Gators’ win against city rival Byrd.

Kilgore ends the regular season with a resounding 48-0 home win against Mabank.

Ada claims the outright District 4A-4 title with a 40-14 win against Sallisaw. Black Diamonds need a Poteau win at Broken Bow on Friday to secure the No. 2 seed from the district and host a first-round playoff game next week.

Captain Shreve beats arch-rival Byrd in the “Backyard Brawl,” 42-34.

– Captain Shreve faces a fourth-and-short but Byrd just jumped offside. Gators get a first down in the final seconds and will beat the Yellow Jackets, 42-34.

– Mineral Springs on a 22-0 run to start the final quarter and the Hornets now extend their lead on Murfreesboro to 44-20.

– Byrd recovers the onside kick. But the kick traveled 9 yards instead of the necessary 10, and the Yellow Jackets are flagged for illegal touching. Captain Shreve will take over leading 42-34.

– Byrd not going away. Yellow Jackets score a TD and get the two-point conversion with less than two minutes left and trail by eight, 42-34. Onside kick is coming up.

– Captain Shreve pulling away from Byrd, as the Gators now lead 42-26 with 2:05 left.

– Arkansas High scores all 43 points in the first half and the Razorbacks finish the regular season with a 43-0 win against DeQueen.

– Captain Shreve holds Byrd on downs and takes over with the Gators still ahead, 35-26, late in the game.

Captain Shreve back up by two scores on Byrd, 35-26, as Jamarcea Plater breaks off a long TD run from 68 yards out with 4:39 remaining.

– Carthage QB Jett Surratt throws another TD pass on the last play of the first half. He threw three TD passes in the final minutes of the half for the Bulldogs, who now lead Brownsboro, 51-0.

– Captain Shreve stops Byrd on the two-point conversion. Gators hanging on to a 28-26 lead with 7:53 remaining.

– Byrd in position to possibly tie the score on Captain Shreve, and the Yellow Jackets get the TD. Byrd trails the Gators, 28-26, pending a potential game-tying two-point conversion.

– Sallisaw finally gets on the board with a 6-yard TD keeper by Kase Adams, but the Black Diamonds trail Ada, 33-7, with 14 seconds left in the third.

Murfreesboro now within two of Mineral Springs, 22-20, after scoring a TD late in the third quarter.

Carthage now up 44-0 on Brownsboro late in the first half as QB Jett Surratt adds a pair of TD passes.

– End of three quarters, Captain Shreve holds a 28-20 lead on Byrd.

Byrd gets within a possession of Captain Shreve, 28-20, late in the third quarter as Asher Murray drills a 45-yard field goal.

Kilgore holds a 41-0 lead on Mabank at halftime.

Ada now up 33-0 on Sallisaw midway through the third quarter.

– Murfreesboro making things interesting, as the Rattlers are within 10 of Mineral Springs, 22-12, early in the second half.

Ada now extends its lead on Sallisaw to 27-0 early in the second half.

Mineral Springs holds a 22-6 lead on the road at Murfreesboro at halftime in a Southwest Arkansas game.

– Benny Smith with a 4-yard TD run and Carthage now extends its lead on Brownsboro to 30-0 midway through the second quarter.

– Kayson Brooks scores from 3 yards out. Kilgore now up 35-0 on Mabank with more than eight minutes left until halftime.

Carthage now builds a 23-0 lead on Brownsboro with more than three minutes left in the first quarter. Jett Surratt with another TD pass to Junior Henderson, this one covering 16 yards. According to Ryan Silapan of the Panola Watchman, Carthage’s defense has held Brownsboro to minus 59 total yards.

Kilgore already out to a 28-0 lead on Mabank still in the first quarter. Rayshaun Williams had the first two TDs on scoring runs; then Takieran White added an 88-yard TD run and Kayson Brooks connects on a 26-yard TD pass to Lakeyleon Graves for the last Bulldog TD.

Longtime Byrd play-by-play announcer Charlie Cavell being honored on the field at halftime as this is his 300th game calling Yellow Jacket football.

– Captain Shreve misses a field goal on the last play of the first half. But the Gators hold a 28-17 lead on Byrd at the break.

Ada leads Sallisaw, 20-0, at the half on the strength of back-to-back pick-sixes right before intermission.

– Arkansas High scores again right before halftime. Razorbacks now hold a commanding 43-0 lead on DeQueen.

Carthage jumps out to a 14-0 lead on Brownsboro less than four minutes into the game. Jett Surratt throws a 5-yard TD pass to Junior Henderson; then Benny Smith runs it in from 17 yards out.

– Another 80-yard TD for Captain Shreve, this time an 80-yard reception by Abram Anderson. Gators lead Byrd now, 28-17.

– Ada just returned another interception to the house. Two pick-sixes, just 10 seconds apart. Cougars now take a 20-0 lead on Sallisaw.

Ada extends its lead on Sallisaw to 14-0 on a 65-yard pick-six interception return with more than a minute left in the first half.

Arkansas High extends its lead, and then some, to 36-0 after a long TD pass. Then on the PAT attempt, there’s a botched snap, but the holder picks it up and finds an open receiver in the end zone for a wild two-point conversion.

– Christian Maxie with his second TD on the night for Byrd, as Captain Shreve now leads the Yellow Jackets, 21-17, with 3:07 remaining in the second quarter.

– Arkansas High has scored a touchdown on each of its first four drives and the Razorbacks now lead DeQueen, 28-0, early in the second quarter as Malek Dangerfield grabs a long TD pass.

– Captain Shreve immediately responds on an 80-yard TD pass from Brodie Savage to Cardarrian Devers. Gators go back up by double digits on Byrd, 21-10.

– Byrd’s Christian Maxie breaks off a 52-yard TD run. Yellow Jackets now trail Captain Shreve, 14-10, near the midway point of the second quarter.

– Sallisaw forces Ada to punt on a fourth-and-23, but the Cougars place a punt inside the Black Diamonds’ 20 with more than seven minutes left in the first half.

Captain Shreve extends its lead on Byrd to 14-3 with nearly nine minutes left until halftime.

– In Texarkana, Arkansas High has already jumped out to a 21-0 lead against DeQueen.

– On fourth-and-goal from the 1, Ada’s tailback was initially stopped but is able to break through on second effort and get into the end zone. PAT makes it 7-0 Ada with three seconds left in the first quarter.

– Ada down to the Sallisaw 1 and faces a fourth-and-goal in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

– Ada now down to the Sallisaw 5-yard line after completing a long pass play with nearly two minutes left in the first quarter.

– Captain Shreve now goes up 7-3 on Byrd after a TD run from Jamarcea Plater.

– Ada gets the ball back on Sallisaw and has at the ball near midfield.

Byrd takes a 3-0 lead on a 39-yard field goal by Asher Murray with 6:59 left in the opening quarter.

– Meanwhile, in East Texas, following Carthage seeking to wrap up an undefeated district season for the eighth consecutive year. Bulldogs at home to take on Brownsboro.

– Also following a Shreveport city rivalry in Northwest Louisiana, as Captain Shreve takes on Byrd.

– Sallisaw’s defense forces a three-and-long and an Ada punt on the game’s opening series.

– Sallisaw and Ada now under way on the campus of East Central University. Black Diamonds kick things off to the Cougars.

– Getting ready to go live in a few minutes, checking out several high school football games. One key game I’m focusing on is the game in Ada between Sallisaw and Ada, which will decide the District 4A-4 championship.
