In a spectacular display of athletic prowess, Heavener Cross Country had another triumphant day at Carl Albert State College. The high school men’s team emerged as meet champions with an impressive score of 16, surpassing the near-perfect score of 15. Leading the charge was the overall meet champion, Seth Lynch, closely followed by runner-up Diego Cruz. Their stellar performances were complemented by medalists Jerred Boss, Morgan Alstott, Isaac Cook, Parker Brand, and Geren Palmer.

The women’s team also put on a commendable performance, securing third place. Chloe McMahan led the team, with Allison Palmer, Jenna Scroggins, and Gracie Springfield also earning medals for their outstanding efforts.

In the junior high division, the boys’ team claimed third place, spearheaded by Slayde Cockburn. Medalists Ethan Anderson and Justin Boss added to the team’s success. The junior high girls were led by Miriam Luna-Sanchez, who also received a medal, along with Yadira Diaz.

A special shout-out goes to the seasoned athlete Steven Cruz, who was the overall college champion, and Lindsey Wortham, the college runner-up. It was also heartening to see Destiny Lawson running for CASC, with a great and rowdy crowd cheering these athletes on.

The event was a perfect prelude to an evening of spirited support as the community caravans to the Palace at the Pasture to cheer on the Wolves at Central tonight. Coach West says for all, “Let’s bring that same energy and enthusiasm to support our team!”
To all the athletes, remember: whether you’re sprinting to the finish line or just trying to find your other shoe before the race, every step counts. Good luck to the Wolves and for all the teams a safe and prosperous night.
