@Blue Jacket, OK – The Arkoma Mustangs (1-0) kicked off their season with a commanding 60-42 victory over the Blue Jacket Chieftains, in Week Zero action, showcasing a high-powered offense and a resilient defense.
Cody Morales led the charge, completing 14 of 23 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Morales also demonstrated his dual-threat capability, rushing for 104 yards and two touchdowns, while contributing defensively with three tackles, including one for a loss.
Dakota Lanham was a force on the ground, carrying the ball 13 times for an impressive 212 yards and three touchdowns. Lanham also made an impact in the passing game with five receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown, and defensively with six tackles.
Scout Smith hauled in six catches for 107 yards and a touchdown, adding four tackles, an interception, and three pass deflections to his all-around performance.
Jimmy Culbreath contributed three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown, along with six tackles, a tackle for loss, and two interceptions with three pass deflections.
Brian Flurry had one catch for 11 yards and five tackles, while Corbin Jones led the defense with 11 tackles and two tackles for loss.
Other notable defensive performances included Salvador Vargas with four tackles and a tackle for loss, Kaine Wells with four tackles and an interception, and Carlos Garcia with two tackles and a tackle for loss. Keith Niles also added two tackles and a tackle for loss, while Kingston Farrar, Rufus Arnett, Jacob McKinley, Brant Chesher, and Tommy Norwood each contributed a tackle.
Baylor Weatherton handled the kicking duties, eight times for a total of 148 yards.
The Mustangs outgained the Chieftains 526-252, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season. Great job, fellas!
