Pocola Lady Indians Victorious Over Pryor Lady Tigers with the shutout

The Pocola Lady Indians were triumphant over the Pryor Lady Tigers 5-0 on Thursday.

Pocola got on the board in the top of the sixth inning after Lety Parga hit into a fielder’s choice, and Kylee Merritt hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Allyssa Parker earned the win for the Lady Indians. She gave up one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. Coda Taylor took the loss for the Lady Tigers. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out one and walking four.

Merritt, Riley Jerrell, Alli Lomon, and Kaydence Batt each collected one hit for Pocola. Merritt and Parga were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Lady Indians. Pocola’s girls had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Parga and Parker led the team with three free passes each.

Rhymee Rutherford led Pryor with one hit in three at bats.

The Pocola Lady Indians will travel to Wilburton for their next game on Tuesday.

Kylee Merritt A Difficult Out As Pocola Lady Indians Defeat Adair Lady Warriors

In the first game today Kylee Merritt collected three hits in three at bats, as Pocola defeated Adair 3-2 on Thursday. Merritt hit a solo home run to center field in the sixth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the second inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Indians pitchers struck out five, while the Lady Warriors sat down two.

Pocola got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Kaydence Batt homered to center field, and Merritt singled, each scoring one run.

Charley Wheeler homered to center field, which helped Adair tie the game at two in the top of the sixth.

A solo home run to center field by Merritt gave Pocola the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the sixth.

Kyleigh Combs earned the win for the Indians. The righty allowed three hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two. Cooper Methvin took the loss for Adair. The starter went six innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking one. Allyssa Parker collected the save.

Parker collected two hits for Pocola in two at bats. The Indians were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Lety Parga made the most plays with seven.

Wheeler drove the middle of the lineup, leading Adair with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Ali Schwerdtfeger, Methvin, and Wheeler each collected one hit for the Lady Warriors. Adair turned one double play in the game.
