Howe Varsity Lions Defeat Okay Varsity Mustangs On Multiple Hit Performance By Andruw Covey

Andruw Covey collected four hits in four at bats, as Howe Varsity Lions defeated Okay Varsity Mustangs 8-0 on Thursday. Covey doubled in the second inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Aiden Scott struck out 10 batters on the day. The lefty also gave up three hits and zero runs over six innings while walking six.

Howe Varsity Lions got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Shayne Mead hit into a double play, and Wesley Toney stole home, each scoring one run.

Howe Varsity Lions added one run in the second after Covey doubled.

Sawyer Henderson took the loss for Okay Varsity Mustangs. The pitcher went five and one-third innings, giving up eight runs on 13 hits, striking out one and walking three.

Howe Varsity Lions tallied 13 hits in the game. Garrett Smith and Cole Wann each drove in two runs for Howe Varsity Lions. Toney and Scott each collected multiple hits for Howe Varsity Lions. Howe Varsity Lions turned one double play in the game. Howe Varsity Lions didn’t commit a single error in the field. Myka Thornburg had the most chances in the field with nine.

Ryder Davison, Henderson, and Diezel Davis each collected one hit for Okay Varsity Mustangs. Gaven King led Okay Varsity Mustangs with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Okay Varsity Mustangs turned one double play in the game.
