Josey Peterson drove in four runs on two hits to lead Howe Lady Lions past Whitesboro Varsity Bulldogs 11-3 on Tuesday. Peterson singled in the sixth inning, scoring three runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring one.
Whitesboro Varsity Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Sarah James grounded out, Hannah Adams singled, and Emilee Edwards singled, each scoring one run.
Howe Lady Lions captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second after Jazzy Harrison tripled, Preslee Jackson singled, Karley Duvall doubled, and Slatey Free doubled, each scoring one run.
Howe Lady Lions added one run in the third. Peterson singled, making the score 5-3.
Lexi Scarberry stepped in the circle first for Howe Lady Lions. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking three. Madison Grogan opened the game for Whitesboro Varsity Bulldogs. The left-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none.
Howe Lady Lions accumulated 10 hits in the game. Peterson, Harrison, and Scarberry each collected two hits for Howe Lady Lions. Peterson led Howe Lady Lions with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game.
Mallory Grogan went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Whitesboro Varsity Bulldogs in hits. James, Adams, and Edwards each drove in one run for Whitesboro Varsity Bulldogs. Whitesboro Varsity Bulldogs didn’t commit a single error in the field. James had the most chances in the field with five.
